“Coach Bites”

Group Reflective Inquiry Sessions

the benefits of group reflective inquiry in a work setting

“Coach Bites” group reflective inquiry sessions are mini-workshops that offer an opportunity for small groups of co-workers to pause and take a gentle self-sustaining breath in the middle of the workday. These sessions are intended to be voluntary and are designed to offer a reflective and calming self check-in during the day in a facilitated, neutral and supportive setting.

I developed “Coach Bites” Group Inquiry sessions in response to a perceived need in many workplaces today for more meaningful and supportive connection among co-workers. The revolution in work styles that has occurred as a result of the increase in remote and hybrid work since 2020 has often led to experiences of isolation that can affect our sense of well-being, accomplishment and productivity.

These reflective pauses provide an excellent way to foster genuine connection and mutual understanding between colleagues who are working either in-office or remotely.

Offering a space for a regular, facilitated check in experience to leadership teams, employees and/or staff provides a way for company leaders to demonstrate their organization’s commitment to staff well-being in the work place. These informal, reflective gatherings help to build positive, mutually supportive relationships among colleagues.

They work well as a regular weekly or bi-weekly “downtime” period for small groups, or as an optional lunch-time “Brown Bag” type offering.

Giving teams and/or staff the option to join informal reflective gatherings that meet regularly has the effect of increasing mutual trust and confidence while improving communication and collaboration, bringing a deepened sense of shared purpose into the workspace.
